Letybo is a prescription-only medicine indicated for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe vertical lines between the eyebrows in adults <75 years old seen at maximum frown (glabellar lines) when the severity of the facial lines has an important psychological impact.
Mode of Action:
Clostridium botulinum neurotoxin type A blocks the peripheral release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine at presynaptic cholinergic nerve terminals of neuromuscular junctions by cleaving SNAP-25, a protein integral to the successful docking and release of acetylcholine from vesicles situated within the nerve endings, thereby leading to denervation of the muscle and a flaccid paralysis.
Contraindications of Letybo:
-Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
-Generalised disorders of muscle activity such as myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Eaton syndrome, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
-Presence of acute infection or inflammation at the proposed injection sites.
Who Is the Ideal Patient For Letybo?
Ideal patients for Letybo would be adults under the age of 75 with concerns of deep to severe glabellar lines. However, practitioners should always do a full consultation with clients to determine whether the treatment is both suitable and beneficial for the patient.
Patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not use Letybo.
